Blasting a foundation in shallow bedrock

Video tour of the job site excavation for site development

All right, we're going to give you guys a quick little run down in the septic and the foundation blasting that we've done out here. All right, we got this. Septic leach field Dug out. We're out here at Sagamore Trail. This is our Bernstein job getting this sta dog in got a nice big 35 thousand pound excavator over there And Ryan Hansen is out ripping out this whole we're gonna be getting into some hard ground right kind of right where that grading blade is It's a 65 foot long by 12 feet wide.

By three foot plus deep On The downslope Edge Designs. We get this our sand filter down below original grade. Then we're technically not a mound. So our cover layer and everything can protrude up above it where the original grade was just a little bit and that's still quote unquote and not a mound by by state regulations.

So that's where we're at with it. Ryan Hansen is up there taking care of business on this big as usual septic installer extraordinaire doing great work for us.

All right. We're out here with Aaron Wells of AWS Drilling and Blasting. It's getting ready to start drilling some holes or doing a basement here. It's gonna be a real nice house.

We're in December now. So time is of the essence every day counts a lot. We've got short days and we have Windows of Windows of good weather.

The thing Aaron kept his eyes on that one. I don't know if you guys saw that it was a little hydraulic pressure 10 foot holes here 5 foot pattern 5 foot 3 every five feet square grid pattern.

He's gonna over blasted. So basically he's got to go down 10 feet and we're going for seven feet of total depth because as the blast in the Rock last out of there and breaks out it comes out in pockmarks basically 45-degree cones, upside-down face, you know opening up as they come up because yeah, that's just the way the dynamite glass breaks out the Rock.

We're getting ready to blast here. This is up here Sagamore Trail. That's the in Gilpin County. And this basically I was talking to the Blaster. He said this is some hard rock. This is dust from Hard Rock when it's really white and light color like this as an indication that that's hard rock and he said yeah, we would have definitely had the blast if we would have got about 2 feet then founded on it for a week or so, and then we would have called the plastron anyway, so.

We definitely made the right choice here just to start this whole project off with the boom and get this all broken up and loosened up and then we're going to go ahead and dig it all out with this Sani 135 from equipment. Share Carson gabbar. Take care business getting us. These machines is really helpful. Look him up on Instagram want to find them are there's a phone number, but that's what Carson is the man. I'm going to move this thing out of the way because sometimes flying rocks can break glass.

Class to get this out of here about to about to blow up this little hill top and put in a 10-foot deep walkout basement for the customers over there. They're just showing up. We got some beers gonna have a good time.

You're gonna blast OBO you can pull the trigger. Uh-huh. You are your house after all. Yeah.

What are those?

Oh my God, that's so cool. Never gets old. I didn't know it's gonna be that big of a pile Aaron. How do you feel Debbie talk to the camera? All right.

You guys get to do this all the time. Uh, yeah like a kid ever. You're quick gonna go over there now. Yeah.

I know it's the same dirt just full are.

Isn't that wild?

So now we're gonna do the great Chuck Shuffle to get Aaron and Aaron out of here. So we gotta get gotta make room to get Aaron out of here. Look at that mountain. It's amazing. It weren't for that Frost. We probably would have some stuff lying around. Oh really? Yeah. It makes a super good Blaster Matt. Oh, that's awesome.

Those chunks of frost that rolled back. We'll have to throw them up on the pile because I got three more rows. I still get a drill in there. Okay, I was gonna great. I was just gonna kind of push and start pushing some of this stuff out of here.

Yeah, we're going to do more tomorrow because he broke a hydraulic lines. He's got to get out of your get that fix and get back tomorrow. Yeah, and then we'll do the water line. Yeah, I'm gonna go dig up there too and make sure we don't need anything up there, but I know maybe would be tough on scheduling but.

Say what now?

So I can shoot right up to it. There's already a pumpkin. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah living the life in here, huh?

Yeah. Yeah, it stayed in one piece.

So this is the second build side of the little cabin and we also hit some major Rock here. So we're going to end up blasting that second site as well will be blessing that tomorrow morning.

Alright, we blue we blast it up if it helped to this Wellhead, and we blasted this whole second row here.

Got this all broken up for us and Jordans getting ready to start digging this out to be quite the excavation probably could use a bigger machine, but this lovely.

Start by pulling Frost.

Build up a little retaining wall down there at the down slope edge of the spoils pile Frost clumps.

Can I hold this pile going over the hillside where we can't cover it use it for any vehicle or anything else.

Us.

Dugout here.

I spent about three days.

12 hours, give or take.

And after days worth of digging Jordan got most of that pile dug down, so we'll keep you guys posted as we keep making Headway. Thanks for tuning in.
