We enjoyed stacking these walls. I love the rock work more than anything else we do. I leant something and see things I wished I done better on each wall. Walls are a teamwork thing and the walls reflects so much incluso t the teamwork that went into it. We couldn’t get the dump trucks to climb this road so we had them dump at the bottom and used our truck and dump trailer with 4 chains on the wheels to shuttle the fill up the hill to his house and tank location. Winter dropped on us early like a hammer this year. It’s set us back but we need to keep the lights on and jobs still need to get done so we persevere. Waterline freeze mitigation strategy by sleeving the waterline in 4” pipe. This allows warmer air from deeper parts of the trench to travel up the waterline and keep it warm in the shallower parts of the trench. Haven’t had a line freeze yet using this technique. Here we’re using concrete blankets to keep the open hole bottom warm and protected from the moisture of the snow. If the snow freezes and thaws a few times inside this open hole it will saturate the soil and then freeze and cause it to swell. Swollen soil is unsuitable for placing concrete on top because it will then thaw and contract and cause the concrete to settle and crack. No bueno.
